What is Social Bookmarking and how can it help my site?

Social bookmarking has been around for a couple of years, but for me, is a completely new concept as I learned more about internet marketing and the best way to get traffic to my site and blog. It is a process that is becoming increasingly popular as a means of generating traffic and page rank, so it's something I want to start with now! Most of us who owns a PC knows that when we come across a website that we like, you can add the site to our list of favorites or bookmarks for our future use. Social bookmarking takes that organizational process a step further by making public the list of sites you frequent. This article will discuss what social bookmarking really is, its advantages, and how it can help your web site.

What is social bookmarking? As mentioned previously, social bookmarking is a system of organized web sites that you want to re-visit, but rather that bookmarking to a folder on your computer, bookmark them on a dedicated website social bookmarking. If you do a Google search for "social bookmarking sites" you will find a list of the best social bookmarking sites that you can join to add your favorite sites. The way we go about this is to use keywords that represent the content of your favorite website, or in other words, "tag" it. You can then make the items public or private. Those who make public can be seen by all visitors to social bookmarking sites and search keywords used to describe your favorite sites. The public display will also show who created the bookmark, when, and how those keywords are popular.

There are many advantages to using social bookmarking as opposed to just bookmarking. Taking the list of most popular sites to the public, you will have the opportunity to share information with others who are seeking the same type of information. They will be able to find a list of sites that show exactly what they want by simply logging into a social bookmarking site and typing in some relevant keywords. This is a great way to help others find useful information, or sharing of resources with a group of people. For example, a group of network marketing can be useful information on prospecting, so they log on, type "prospecting" and receive a list of bookmarks on "prospecting" and other related topics, that's right! Not only will you find links to sites that interest you, but you can find out who has bookmarked your site and how popular it is. Also, if you wish to contact others who are interested in the same subjects and sites, like you, or learn more about you, you can easily create a new connection with someone! How useful is that?

Aside from the benefits of resource sharing, social bookmarking can help generate traffic to your website and blog. You can set your blog to link your bookmarks with tags, and allow blog visitors to bookmark your site easily. This will result in more traffic, perhaps a better Google Page Rank, and potentially more sales! Some of the sites that combine social bookmarking lets you add bookmarks to your blog. In this way, the blog can be updated with tags and links on a daily basis! If you know how important it is to update the blog frequently to get the spiders of search engines and drive traffic to your site, then you'll appreciate this feature! Not only that, but you can use social bookmarking sites to post links to your website, increasing traffic and PR with a backlink from authority sites!

I have yet to discover the disadvantages of social bookmarking, but its advantages, as listed above, are enough to make me excited about this relatively new way of marketing my site and blog! I hope you are excited too, and take action to improve your websites and blogs! You never know, you can also connect with an expert in your specialty area that can help you achieve your goals and dreams! ......
