The creative possibilities of diversity

Leaders have a special responsibility towards diversity. Not only do we develop ourselves to handle many different situations that occur in the workplace, we are also required to help create a climate that values diversity and equity. Some leaders are able to separate different policies meant to protect. They focus on the fact that they are following and are in compliance with the law. Line with the policies is important, but it is only the beginning. "The laws ensure that people are treated fairly in the workplace. But it is your leadership, not laws and regulations, which allows employees to work together successfully." [1]

Diversity should be a positive and useful to do business. When leaders spend time learning about the creative possibilities that lead to differences and exploit the differences, differences become leaders. Diversity leaders think of differences as opportunities rather than threats. "Different perspectives to create some of the most powerful and innovative ideas ... the saying 'two heads are better than one' comes from the idea that each person has something to offer that will create a better result." [2]
