Streaming Video simplified

With the internet you try to view the video, but has made little progress due to lack of technology and bandwidth. The technology has overcome these problems with more powerful computers, standard protocols and formats. More homes and computers with faster CPUs can now access broadband and now we see the expansion of video on the internet.

The companies and websites are constantly taking advantage of this booming industry. Some sites have video on them since the technology was available, more sites are turning to video and its benefits daily, while some sites may not understand the technology and prefer to stay with the written word. That said it is now easier to embed the video websites that there is no real reason not to.

With true streaming video the end user can start watching the file once the download starts. The file is sent to the user in a more or less, steady stream, and you watch as it arrives. The obvious advantage of this method is that no waiting is involved. Streaming media has additional advantages such as the possibility of transmitting live events and, sometimes referred to as a webcast or netcast. True streaming video must be delivered from a specialized streaming server. This type of video streaming is not used by most websites.

Progressive download, more or less the same HTTP streaming, the video allows you to view not just one part of the file was received. This simulates true streaming video, but it is not the same quality, but has the advantage of being housed in a normal server. This is the easiest and cheapest way to stream video from a website. Web sites for small and medium size are more likely to use this method to expensive streaming server. This method does not require any particular type of website or host, only a host server which recognizes common video file types.

The progressive download video is downloaded from beginning to end, usually over the entire video file to a temporary file area of the visitor's computer. After a few seconds to download, the video starts playing. For this reason, most viewers can not tell if you're watching the video streaming or progressive. Most of the time, the download will be faster than the playback, so that the media player will easily be able to keep pace. If the internet connection is slow or suffers from traffic congestion, then the player stops until it once again, a few seconds of video ready to play.

To create an HTTP streaming or progressive video all you do is the following.

1. Create a video file in a common format for streaming media

2. Upload files to the web server

3. Create a simple hyperlink to the video file, or use special HTML tag to embed the video in a web page or blog.

When the day comes that your videos are very popular then you might have problems banda with your hosting provider and you may need to upgrade or switch to another host and server. Hopefully that day will be here soon .......
