Create an editorial calendar for your business

One of the best tips I know to stay on top of your content creation comes from my 10 years of experience in public relations. Create an editorial calendar for your business. An editorial calendar is essentially a weekly (or daily) content plan for your business.

Having an editorial calendar helps you plan your articles and blog posts around the launch of products and seasonal events around. Planning to write in this way allows you to get the most bang for the time of writing. It also allows you to create the consistency you need for your articles and blog posts to bring you more traffic over time.

Here are some tips for creating an editorial calendar that will work for you and your business.

1, create a spreadsheet - to add a column for each day of the week you want to write. Number of rows. Each line will be a week of your writing.

2. Take a look at your business / marketing plan. Mark your product launches (or the product launch of affiliate partners) on your calendar. To prepare articles about your products. Start promoting your products a few weeks in advance. Use your calendar to make sure that your affiliates and partners to promote know your launch well in advance.

3. What are the "events" that relate to the product. For example, January is "national organizing month." May is national "Shoes Orphans Month". Plan your articles and blog posts around these events can often lead to increased media attention because they have a good time "hook". Do not forget to also send your "timely" articles such as press releases, and online distribution services through your local newspaper. You could become a local expert.

4. Make your own weekly pattern. Writing on the same topic every day. For example, you could have marketing Monday, Wednesday, word games, free to all on Fridays, etc.

Consider planning your "own day" in your marketing calendar. You can write an article, blog and even press releases announcing your special event. The next day, you can have a sale, make a donation to charity whatever makes you happy your readers! Begin promoting the "day" as soon as possible.

Now that you have your spreadsheet, spend some time brainstorming possible articles. Begin filling the items on the agenda. Soon, you will have three months or more of the ideas.

Now, I know that things change and you could not actually write the article that you have planned for every day - but knowing that there is a topic waiting for your every day makes it much easier to write coherently.

Do not be afraid to change the schedule as things change, it is only a guideline. You can also reuse the calendar for years to come adjusting it as your business evolves .......
